Documenting Moments

I know I drive my family to distraction with my constant need to take photos when we’re altogether.  It’s what I do.  Not entirely sure why.  It’s obviously been worse since cameras went digital.  And oh my goodness, the utter joy of taking quick snaps with your phone!

Its not just about the family get togethers or special occasions.  I love taking photos of the everyday moments.  My desire and passion for that has increased 10fold since meeting + marrying my hubby; 10 fold again after losing my parents.

And so what to do with the photos?  Well I’ve been thinking for a couple of years now about making an effort to get some decent photo albums for them.  Alas, safe to say I’ve not done that.

I have made numerous digital Scrapbooking layouts, and while I love them, have printed many of them, given them as gifts, they’re not quite what I’ve envisioned for my photos and the story they tell.

Plus, I’m ashamed to say I have a ton of photos from when my kids were little in boxes that are screaming out to be organised!  I’m not one of those die hard Scrapbooking super organised women with albums for their kids, holidays and so on.  I somehow never got round to it.

Anyway, today is the day.  Documenting the moments.  I grabbed one of my notebooks and made a list of albums I want to create starting with the everyday, me and Steve one.  I then decided, after much researching, to try Becky Higgin’s Project Life basic memory keeping system.  I love that its as basic as a photo album but with lots of options to add journaling and memorabilia.  And there’s lots of scope for me to use my own graphics.

I must admit to feeling a wee bit excited when the FEDEX UK guy knocked on the door earlier on this afternoon to deliver the goodies I ordered to create my first album.  I’m calling this project “Documenting Moments 2013″.   And I cannot wait to get started.  I’m hoping to blog about this new experience and my progress each week.

[Oh and just as a little caveat, I'm not a photographer!  And that's not false modesty.  I love love taking photos and I think I take ok photos but they're not National Geographic or anything close.]

And now I’m off to rip open those new boxes and get started!
