Getting Clarity + Direction

As most of you know, I run my little business & blog from home.  I’ve taken a much loved hobby and turned it into a business.  As you can imagine, it didn’t happen overnight.

In fact, with so much going on in my personal life from divorce, grief, loss and re-marrying, it was a good job I didn’t have a “proper” job because there’s no way I could’ve coped.  At that time most of my work was just freelance.  No real structure and I certainly wouldn’t call it a business.

I didn’t have any real direction or focus.  I had big dreams and I knew I wanted to run my own business.  But I lacked some basic business skills, direction and clarity.  I didn’t know what to do first.  And so I ended up spending months (and then a couple of years) not really achieving much at all.

It didn’t help that I was also dealing with the recent loss of my beloved Dad.   Steve, my hubby, decided we should get away for a couple of weeks and so we went to Italy.    While there, just chilling one afternoon on my laptop, I came across Marie Forleo’s free life/business training video series.  I’m not even sure now how I stumbled on her website.  Anyway, I signed up for her videos as I loved her ethos for women “creating a life and business they love”.  I was inspired.

Hands down it was the best thing I’ve ever done.   I’m still working on my business.  It’s early days BUT I have focus, determination and the business skills to now get things going.  It’s given me the confidence to believe in myself and what I want to achieve.  It’s more than just dreaming big.  It’s having the confidence, skills and direction to make those dreams come true.
