If nothing else, the past few years has taught me that you just can’t get comfortable and cosy in your life. There’s always going to be something that will come along and challenge you, stress you out or actually knock you down. However, I do know more than anything else, you have to hold on to your hopes, dreams and goals. No. Matter. What. It’s during the hard times that the hopes and dreams of something better; of something more will help you survive. They get you through. It’s been that way with me. I say this with a heart full of gratitude for my life, I’m living my dream. I’m doing what I love to do every day and making a living doing it.
You can do that too. Or whatever it is you dream about. What are your goals and apsirations? I’m not done yet. I still have dreams, aspirations and am dilligently working towards them. We spent a few days in Cornwall recently. It’s where we want to move to next year and so we go there as much as we can (my sister owns a static caravan on a holiday park there), so we can look for a new home, scout out places to live and generally just to get away from the madness that can be the south-east (UK). We had great plans for this trip but I got sick. I actually ended up in hospital but not before I felt pretty rubbish most days. As my Dad used to say, “roll with the punches” and we did that. Instead of going out and about all the time, we took gentle stolls on the beach; I started drawing again; we discussed our future plans and new ideas for our business.
It wasn’t perfect and not what we had hoped for when we booked that trip. We made the best out of a bad situation. And that means we’re still able to move towards those goals. It’s just a slight deviation on the journey to them.
Here’s one of my favourite quotes and I want to share in the hope that it’ll encourage you onwards with your own hopes, dreams and goals. If you have a favourite quote that you read to remind you of your dreams, please do share it with me in the comments below.
“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”
