Even though we are now well into February, I really wanted to review the first month of 2016. I’m determined to make a difference this year and the only way I think I can do it is by working day by day, week by week and month by month. To do one thing every day towards my goals.January went by in a blink of an eye. Yes, it’s clichè, I guess. For me, it’s true. The weather down here in Cornwall has been fairly true to form. Cornish Winters are notoriously stormy with wind and rain coming straight in off the Atlantic. We catch the tail end of whatever is being thrown at North America! I’m seriously looking forward to Spring. I don’t want to wish my life away though so I’ve been trying to appreciate what it means to be in Cornwall in Winter. Big brooding skies, awesome rainbows, huge crashing waves and stormy seas are just as beautiful as the Spring sunshine and flowers.
As I sit in the cosy warmth and inspiring surroundings that is my office, I’m happy beyond words that I have somehow been able to stick to my plan for every day which means by the end of the month, I’ve created 3 pattern collections, lost 8lbs and done some sewing projects.
I’m a coaster. I’m a procrastinator. Sticking to what I plan out for each day isn’t always easy. I want to do better with my time management. I need to do better with time management. So although I feel like January was a success, it wasn’t easy. I worked many more hours than I normally would and I struggled with sticking to my eating plan. I’m not on some crazy diet. I just want to lost my excess weight and be healthier as a result. That means cutting back on those snacks that I love so much and realising that I respond to difficult moments, emotional moments by wanting to eat. That was hard. So the fact that I lost 8lbs was pretty big for me. Trying to recognise those signals and doing something to distract myself rather than eating has really helped. One day at a time.
