After the launch of my first fabric collection, Merryn, last year, I started to teach at my local fabric shop, The Sewing Studio in Redruth, Cornwall. It’s been a long term dream of mine to be able to share my knowledge, love and passion in what I do and create. And I love it!
This year I’m collaborating with a fellow workshop teacher and extremely talented quilter, Katrina, to bring you a creative and fun two day workshop on colour and design to enable you to design your own quilt blocks and quilts.
Limited Spaces Available. Book Today to avoid disappointment!
£75 for 2 day workshop - 19th and 26th January 2019
at The Sewing Studio, Redruth, Cornwall.
Have you thought about or even dreamed of designing your own quilt blocks to make a quilt unique to you? If yes, then this workshop is for you!
On the first day, we will be show you how to design basic quilt blocks and how to use colour and pattern to create a unique quilt design. From creating an interesting quilt using just one basic quilt block design through your choice of colour and pattern, to working with a number of block designs in one quilt. You will then put the theory and your new learned skills into practice on day two, as you are taught how to make up the quilt blocks into your own unique quilt top. Each quilt block made on this workshop will be 6” finished size.
I will be sharing all my tips and tricks about colour and pattern when choosing fabric in general plus when making design choices. And Katrina will be sharing her best practices when putting your blocks together and making a quilt top.
This workshop includes a colour wheel, design graph paper and a handout that includes everything you’ll learn over this two day workshop so you always have it to refer to.
You will need to bring along your usual sewing kit (fabric scissors or rotary cutter, ruler, cutting mat), sewing machine, at least four fat quarters of fabric or a layer cake (this will be cut up). Feel free to bring several fat quarters if you’re not sure what colours you’d like to use. There will be time to buy fabric and/or get advice from us on choosing your colour ways on first day of the workshop. You will also need a pencil, ruler, rubber and coloured pencils.
Come along and create something unique and colourful! We can’t wait to teach this class and share our passion, tips and tricks with you!
