For a couple of months now, I’ve been uploading and testing my fabric designs at Spoonflower, a print on demand fabric shop.
Print on demand fabric is a fast growing part of the fabric and sewing industry. You can choose from thousands (100s of thousands!) of fabric designs and order on many different kinds of premium fabrics such as cottons, jersey, fleece, linen and so on. One reason I have chosen to sell my designs via these kind of shops, is sustainability. Digital printing is far more eco friendly and more sustainable than traditional screen printing. Printing what is needed cuts down on waste too.
As a micro creative business, I love that both Spoonflower and Fashion Formula focus on helping small business owners thrive. We need that more than ever during these difficult and challenging times. When you order fabric from either of my shops, I get a small commission. Because each order is custom printed, the more fabric you order, the cheaper it is.
Spoonflower
Spoonflower is based in the USA with a studio in Berlin, Germany making it easy to order from the UK. I love taking part in their design competitions which helps me build up my portfolio. They also have an option for ordering fabrics as a panel called “Fill A Yard”. Perfect for creating a “cheater” quilt, or sampling many designs in one order. I will do a separate blog post about that as it’s a worthwhile service. I’ve created a couple of collections that make using their “Fill A Yard” service easier when choosing fabrics.

If there are designs you love but would like them in a different colour or scale, please let me know. I will happily make the changes and upload to my shops free of charge. Chances are, if you want a different colour, there will be others wanting the same so it’s a win win for us all.
Thank you again for your continued support. I’d love to know what you think and if you have ideas for designs, please do let me know.
