Before the pandemic, I used to teach a class on colour and design. At the beginning of each new class, I’d ask my students what was their favourite colour? Almost without fail, most said blue was their favourite colour. It’s true that blue is the most popular colour. And I do confess that it is for me too.
When you think about the common words used associated with blue, such as calming, peaceful, tranquil, conservative, traditional and secure, it’s not surprising that many people love blue. It’s a colour that’s easy and dependable. It’s the inspiration for this week’s colour palette. A somewhat fairly easy palette to put together.
Initially, it was going to be a simple monochrome palette but I decided to add a pop of a warm yellow making it almost complementary. Technically, orange is opposite on the colour wheel but a nice warm yellow works well too.
I hope you enjoy this colour palette and it inspires you in your own creative pursuits!
I’ve provided the RGB colour hex codes for those of you who would like them. These hex codes are primarily for websites + digital applications such as image/graphics software. Right click to download and save the image to your computer. You can then sample the colours or add the hex code to your graphics software.
